celebrataions.

so yesterday was my mom's birthday along with an early celebration of my parent's 30th anniversary. we celebrated at the asian wok and grill in american canyon, great food and good service, plenty of family and friends, and we also had karaoke. good times indeed. during dinner i decided to say a little poem for mom's bday which went like this-

April 30th
day of your birth
annual celebration
of truly God's work
a certain special person
in all of our lives
a daughter, sister, mother, friend
and of course my dad's wife
another reason why
we're all here today
celebrating their 30th
anniversary
but before we sing praises
on that note
let me bring it back
to this person i hold
so dear to me
cuz she gave me life
not just to breathe
but also to provide
the way that i live
with all her sacrifice
the strength that she gives
and her light used to guide
me, along this path
laid out by God
no matter what i choose
she still supports me on
true essence of a role model
parental advisor
ever loving, understanding
through her actions
i grow wiser
thoughts
and emotions
devotions
and desires
ever so determined
to deliver
standards higher
in living and in learning
it's no secret
i admire her
she's a queen
such a beautiful being
a soul inspirer
and all i'm trying to say is
i truly love you mom
i hope this day
has been good to you
and continues on and on
year after year
cuz you truly deserve it
and i know
no one's perfect
but you come closest
that's for certain
