wondercon.

wondercon was an awesome experience. i went to comic con in like 2002/2003, so it's been a while since i've attended one of these events. this time around, i went with my friends lan, eric, and jimenez. we all went to volunteer. we arrived around 10:45am and we got our assignments which were to begin at 11:30am controlling the line and helping the handicap. while waiting for our assignment to begin, lan gets called up by one of the staff and is told to help carry some items for some exhibitor, apparently the items were hella heavy and they needed assistance from another person, so lan gave the staff my name and she called me up to help as well. we pick up the items and head down toward the main floor, but the security lady at the door wouldn't let us in, because we didn't have the right badges, nor did our exhibitor. He had to go back up and get a badge. while in the midst of the lil argument and what not, i heard his voice, and that's when i recognized, that the person i was helping out was lou ferrigno, that's right, Mr. Incredible Hulk himself. i was like, hey lan, is that, and lan said that's the incredible hulk, i was like, i thought i recognized the voice, but i didn't put the two together, cuz he didn't seem as big as i pictured him to be. but yea. so that's what we did, we escorted the incredible hulk and his luggage to his booth, and right across of him, we saw the person who plays Chewbacca, funny thing about that, was earlier we saw this tall guy with a light saber cane, and was like, that cane is hella cool, we had no idea that he was actually Chewbacca. hahaha. good stuffs. after helping the incredible hulk tho, the staff lady, started talking to some other staff and was telling them that she wanted to sign us off of our hours for helping in something that was considered harder labor than what other volunteers were expected to perform. hahaha. we were supposed to be doing 3 hours of whatevs, but instead after that mere 15-20mins, we got signed off and were allowed to fall in line an enjoy the rest of the day at wondercon. hahaha. all while, jimenez and eric still had to do their 3 full hours. hahaha. it was destiny. maybe cuz lan and i were veterans of spontaneously volunteering at the comic con so many years back. whatever it was, it was awesome. hahaha. so made my day. we saw eric while we were walking in, and told him what had happened, and he was like, oh hell nah. hahaha. but yea, we went in and enjoyed all the exhibits, saw comics, toys, video games, folks in costume, celebrities, artists, the whole shabang. then later we meet up with eric and jimenez when their shifts had finished and we walked around some more, we took a break outside at the mall, came back and watched v, the fringe, human target, ghostfacers, and to top the experience at wondercon, we watched a q and a with Kevin Smith. truly a great experience. too funny. "it's ropey, it's ropey." you had to be there. so glad i went, so glad i chose to volunteer, so glad i have such great friends to share that experience with. wonder con 2010. so crackin' so another chapter to this story called life.
