recap of the Mayer Hawthorne show

so on tuesday, sept. 15, 2009, I had a chance to watch Mayer Hawthorne live. the venue, rickshaw stop was really nice, it had an upstairs and a downstairs, with sort of a double stacked balcony. i watched the show from upstairs, great view still. as for the show, well, let's put it like this, i have been blessed to be witnessing so many amazing shows in 2009, and this show is a great addition to that list. first up was cambo from instant messangers, doing his solo venture and rocking that mic, had some good joints that definitely got the crowd bobbin' their heads. next up was 14kt and he blessed the crowds ears with some fresh ass beats, that i wish i had in my possession, cuz those joints were bangin'. after 14kt was buff1, who did his thang on the mic as well and showing how a true mc can move the crowd. as a last minute add to the list, peanut butter wolf blessed the stage with a great dj/music video set. so many of the music videos that were shown, i haven't seen in years, it was crazy to see those artists so young. two crazy videos that stood out, were a video with stevie wonder rocking out on some drums. that's right folks, stevie wonder can rock on drums as well as on a piano. so amazing. then the other video was of this old asian guy demonstrating how to rock and roll on a drum machine keyboard. once again crazy and funny at the same time. and of course the headliner, mayer hawthorne and the county. they delivered those songs with energy, soul, and smiles. they performed a lot of my favorites on the strange arrangement album, along with that "Mr. Blue Sky" cover, and the singles "when i said goodbye" and "love is alright." such a great show. i would not mind catching another one of his shows again. and i am so glad i got to share this moment with friends and family. true blessing for the ears and the soul.

here are a few pictures that i took at the show. I took more pics, but these were probably the clearest, since i just have a regular digital camera. the last pic i like a lot cuz it shows the heat, music, and soul rising.

mayer hawthorne and the county 1
mayer hawthorne and the county 2
mayer hawthorne and the county 3

definitely a show you don't want to miss, if you have the chance to witness.
