Just outside of such a great show featuring Jay Electronica, Erykah Badu, and Mos Def....I hella wanted to bring my camera inside, but I read on the Oakland Paramount's website that cameras were not allowed, but there was no security to stop me if I had brought one in, unfortunately there are no ins and outs. ah well, the seats I had for the show were balcony, so pictures would not do the show justice anyway, I just wanted to capture a moment with my friend Heidi, since she was the one that brought the show to my attention in the first place. I am so glad she did. Jay Electronica was cool, but it seemed like he wasn't really feeling the idea of being up there on stage to stall, he said and i quote "...my name's Jay Electronic, and as you can see, I really don't give a F#&!" so that should sum up how his set was like, too bad, cuz that was the first time I had seen him, and I probably won't try to see him again. Now Erykah Badu on the other hand was so amazing, her set was entertainment to the fullest, a real performer, who loves her music, and loves the opportunity to perform. She was also amazing when she did a cover of Nas- "Life's A Bitch", N.W.A.- "Gangsta, Gangsta", and Whodini "Friends." And when she played on the beat machine, truly talented and loves her craft. With this show being the first time I've seen her live, I was blown away and loved every second of her set, to the point that I would be satisfied with just having to come see her. But of course the Mighty Mos Def is also such a great performer and loves his craft, which very much shows in his performance. In the middle of his set, he sang Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and he also danced liked Michael, which was definitely fun to watch, especially when he busted out the famous "Moonwalk." Mos Def is incredible, he has such a stage presence and his music is true Hip Hop, of course he had to perform "Ms. Fat Booty" and "Umi Says" and guess who came out to help him with these songs, Miss Erykah Badu. If you can't tell how excited I was for this show, well, I'm telling you, this was definitely a show to remember and cherish. This show was Hip Hop. This show was Music at it's finest. This show was Entertainment at it's best. Mos Def and Erykah Badu thank you so much for sharing your passion and gifts with the world. I am truly thankful to have such great influences and inspirations from such great artists, which help me Love what I do and do what I Love even more. Hip Hop is Life. Music is Life. Passion is Life.......and that's what I call a show.
